The Film (2026–2027)

Title: "Undivided Heart of Korea" 한글 제목: 일편단심 (一片丹心): 한반도의 평화

A Cinematic Journey Toward Sovereign Peace

Project Overview

Undivided Heart of Korea is a feature-length cinematic exploration of the Korean Peninsula's path from division to sovereign peace. Following a three-generation chronicle, the film documents a family's journey through the volatility of regional conflict toward a stable and unified future.

The Narrative Gateway

This film serves as the "Heart Work" of the K-Neutrality Initiative, acting as a narrative gateway for global audiences to understand the human cost of the "Unfinished War". By bridging personal history with systemic geopolitical analysis, it transforms abstract diplomatic concepts into a resonant, human story of resilience.

Key Themes

  • The Intergenerational Legacy: How the "Foot Work" of ancestors like Lee Jong-Man (LJM) informs the current generation's pursuit of "Democratic Security".

  • Active Neutralization: Visualizing the transformation of the DMZ from a site of conflict into a global hub of innovation and sovereign peace.

  • Social Reconciliation: Addressing the psychological trauma of division to foster the "Undivided Heart" necessary for a permanent Peace Treaty.

The Narrative Pitch: Undivided Heart of Korea

Overview Undivide Heart of Korea is a three-generation chronicle that follows a Korean family's journey through the very volatility the K-Neutrality Initiative seeks to solve today. It is an emotional saga about the unbreakable human spirit, the struggle between ideals and reality, and the fierce resilience passed down through a woman's hands.

The Story The narrative follows Ilsun, a woman whose life mirrors the turbulent history of her nation. From a quiet seaside village where her father’s grand ideals clashed with her mother’s practicality, Ilsun learns early that survival requires both vision and grit.

The Conflict After building a life as a teacher in Seoul with her husband, Jihoon, their world is shattered by the Korean War. Following a harrowing escape from prison, Ilsun becomes the sole provider for her family. Though they later find success by building a motor pump factory, their triumph is crushed by the "fatal flaw" of systemic corruption and military coups—the exact institutional instability that necessitates Democratic Sovereign Security.

The Resolution Faced with a cycle of volatility, Ilsun makes the heart-wrenching choice to leave her homeland. The story concludes at Busan Port as she embarks for Brazil—a refugee in her own land, determined to secure a stable future for the next generation.

Intellectual Predecessor to Film:  "The Unifying Heart of Korea "(2026–2027)   한글 제목: 일편단심 (一片丹心): 한반도의 평화

While the 2026 book provides the rigorous "Head Work" through the legal framework of Chapter 7, the film translates this research into "Heart Work" through cinematic storytelling.

Storytelling for Strategic Peace

The K-Neutrality Initiative believes that permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula requires more than just policy—it requires a new collective imagination. While our strategic framework defines the geopolitical path to 'Active Neutralization,' our flagship creative project, Undivide Heart of Korea, translates these complex ideals into a human story. This screenplay serves as a vital instrument of cultural diplomacy, utilizing the power of cinema to bridge historical trauma and envision a future where neutrality is not a retreat, but a courageous leap toward sovereign reconciliation. By humanizing the necessity of a neutral Korea, we invite the global community to move beyond the armistice of the past toward a narrative of shared prosperity.

Letter of Support

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my full support for the film "Waterdrops Pierce the Rock," which is currently in pre-production by Vana Kim Hansen.

This film uniquely explores the compelling concept of Korean Neutrality through the lens of three generations of a family, highlighting its potential to foster lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and contribute to a better world.

As a historian specializing in the study of neutrality and international relations, I find this film to offer a crucial and timely examination of a viable path toward peace and reunification. The in-depth exploration of the three generations of a family who pursued Korean neutrality sheds light on a potential solution that has yet to be widely explored, and it has the potential to spark meaningful dialogue and understanding.

The concept of Korean neutrality deserves serious consideration and this film provides a valuable platform to explore this topic, including challenges and opportunities. It could significantly raise awareness and promote informed discussions on this critical issue.

I am confident that "Waterdrops Pierce the Rock" will contribute to the ongoing conversation about peace and security in Northeast Asia. The filmmakers' dedication to presenting a balanced and nuanced perspective and commitment to engaging a broad audience makes this project particularly promising.

Kind regards,
